431 Canal Street, 12th Floor of Metropolitan College of New York. NY 10013 New York

LSI New York is based at the Manhattan campus of the Metropolitan College of New York (MCNY), located Downtown in SoHo, near the Financial district, with Chinatown, Tribeca and Greenwich Village all within walking distance. As well as being a friendly and welcoming place to learn English and interact with international and American students, LSI New York offers students access to all the art, theatre, shopping and entertainment that makes the Big Apple the greatest city in the world. If you want to learn English in the United States, New York has it all.

Our language school features bright and spacious classrooms with spectacular views across Manhattan. Facilities include a first class library, two computer rooms with free internet access and a student lounge where you can relax when not studying for exams. You will have every opportunity to mix with American students as well as international students. LSI New York is one of the designated ESL programmes for students taking classes at MCNY, which means that students can enroll in MCNY classes for up to six credits while studying at LSI, or transfer into MCNY’s undergraduate or graduate degree programmes without providing a TOEFL score so long as they’ve completed LSI’s advanced course. The accelerated design of MCNY’s courses means that students can complete an MBA in as little as one year of study. Click for more info on the courses available. You must be at least 16 years old to attend LSI New York; please note that 16-17 year olds cannot stay in Homestay accommodation - they must either arrange their own accommodation or stay at the Amsterdam student residence.

LSI occupies about 15 spacious and comfortable classrooms that offer splendid views over lower Manhattan. Facilities include a library where students can find a quiet place to study, with access to books, magazines, and newspapers free of charge. Two computer rooms with free internet access contain more than 40 computers for student and staff use. Free wifi is also available throughout the building.

LSI New York is located on the 12th floor of an award winning high rise office building on the Manhattan campus of the Metropolitan College of New York (MCNY). Surrounded by Soho, Tribeca, Chinatown and Greenwich Village, four of New York City’s most popular downtown neighborhoods, LSI is just steps away from countless restaurants, cafes, clubs and shops - offering students the chance to experience a vast array of cuisine, shopping and entertainment. Several major subway stations and bus stops are also right around the corner from the school.

LSI’s goal in our general English classes is to give students the opportunity to practice their English. To make the learning process more enjoyable, we use a range of multi-media tools with a variety of teaching techniques. LSI wants to give students the chance to learn English in a practical way so that they can confidently use these skills in the future. During their first morning at LSI, students are welcomed before being assessed for their current skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking English. Following this session, our Academic Director will create a “Personal Study Plan” with each long-term student before placing them into the class level which will benefit the student the most. Regular review of project work, weekly test results, and personal attention all help to improve students’ English skills. Upon successful completion of their course, students receive our “Certificate of Completion”.

Travel and medical insurance
Travel and medical insurance is strongly recommended at all LSI schools for the duration of your stay, regardless of your course length or course/visa type. For some programme or visa types, insurance is compulsory (please check with the school for further details). It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the appropriate cover before departure and for the duration of your stay. Students may be required to show proof of medical insurance at the school upon arrival and may not be allowed to commence a course until satisfactory medical insurance has been obtained. Travel and medical insurance can be purchased from a third party through LSI when booking. Details of what this covers are available from your LSI representative. You are responsible for the belongings which you bring with you to LSI schools or accommodation and for taking out insurance for your own possessions.

Additional services
Any additional services (transfers, travel, laundry, telephone costs, excursions, medical costs, special diet, exam fees, change of accommodation and enrolment amendments) are not included in any fees unless specifically stated on a valid invoice.
